Banded Jasper

Banded jasper is a variety of jasper, a type of sedimentary rock, characterised by distinct, alternating bands of colour. These bands are typically formed from the deposition of different minerals, like iron oxides, in layered sequences. Jasper, in general, is a silica-rich rock, meaning it's primarily composed of microscopic quartz crystals.
