Major Global Sources:

Brazil: Produces the largest commercial quantity of smoky quartz today.

Madagascar: Known for yielding high-quality and commercial-grade crystals.

United States: Significant deposits are mined domestically, most notably in Colorado (around Pikes Peak) as well as California.

Scotland: Historically significant as the national gemstone, where it is traditionally called "cairngorm" after the Cairngorm Mountains.

Other Locations: Notable deposits also occur in Switzerland, Russia, Ukraine, Australia, Africa, and Sri Lanka.
